being physically disabled is like playing a video game with half the health bar while people yell at you for not having full health
plus you take fall damage when you jump for no reason

Yesterday I was feeling like one of the older pokemon games, where when you get poisoned every few steps your vision gets blurry and you lose hp

Some suggestions I have for chronically ill people!

*note, take these suggestions lightly and only do what you feel your body can do! Be gentle with yourself :)

- Obligatory go get a glass of water and a meal! Take a moment to connect with your body. Are you clenching your jaw? Are your shoulders tense? Relax, take a deep breath.

- Try to find a safe space to visit other than your room. Personally, my room is often messy and kind of represents a place to me where a lot of struggling happens. Being in your room for too long is bad for anyone. This place for me is my living room early in the morning when no one is awake.

- Touch some grass. Literally. Sometimes I go outside and realize how long it has been since I’ve simply sat in the grass. I like to do this at night so the heat isn’t so debilitating. Literally the only effort is getting to my yard.

- If you can, give yourself at least one day out of the week completely dedicated to relaxing and caring for your body. I try to do this and it does really help but it’s hard to keep up if you have a busy schedule. I have also found it helpful to have a day off for things like hygiene or chores.

- Stretch. Just a little. Don’t push yourself at all, just relax and stretch your muscles naturally. I know that when I’m in pain I tense up a lot, it feels nice to release that tension when I am able to stretch.

- If you’re like me and you experience fatigue, give yourself a limited amount of tasks to do in a day. I tend to try to to it all in one day but then I crash and repeat the cycle, so I try to keep my tasks down. This includes things like making food, getting ready for the day, or doing the laundry.

- Don’t push yourself past your limit when your body is hurting and you know you need rest. Know the difference between a healthy self encouragement and hurting yourself.

- A “junk food” meal is much better than no meal. Trust me. I often get nauseous when I try to eat, but when I don’t all of my symptoms flare up. I have to try and feed myself what I can, whether that’s a salad or McDonald’s.

- Stop dislocating out of boredom. Seriously. Stop. (@ me)
